Most people measure the workday in hours, but for a new crop of employees — interns in charge of their companies' Twitter feeds — the day is measured in tweets. "I try to get in at least 10 posts a day," says Alexa Robinson, 22, who started work as Pizza Hut's first official "twintern" in June. Robinson spends much of the day on the free microblogging service Twitter sending out messages about special promotions, responding to customer complaints, and trolling Twitter for mentions of Pizza Hut.

Because her posts are not monitored by superiors, she has license to tweet freely in real time. Some of her tweets sound like straight sales pitches: "Have you tried our new Tuscani Pasta Pairs? 2 of our delicious pastas and breadsticks starting at $13.99!?" But others are more personal, like this one: "what are you listening to? My ears are craving some tunes to shake off this case of the Mondays after the holiday!"

Last Friday, I flew down to Los Angeles to be on a talk radio show about Twitter.

Most of the time I call in to radio shows, but the offer was for a studio show, so said yes.

The show ended up being at the same time as TwitCastRadio, my own Twitter radio show, so I contacted the producer and told them I’d simulcast my show via phone from their studio.

The show went well but the simulcast failed. So I got the link for their show and posted it for this weeks TwitCastRadio.

On Saturday, they started sharing the link I used to them. Sunday I was out, but saw that there were a lot of mentions of the show link in my stream. I thought “Boy, these guys are popular”

Unfortunatly, it was a plot to use my name and the show to promote themselves. By Monday, I had to contact them and ask them to stop using my name. The links and use of my Twitter handle continued so I contacted the show host, the contact that got me to go and a few of the tweeps who were complaining that I might be a spammer.

A. The 'magic' is JavaScript. JavaScript is a browser-based programming language that allows fancy things to happen once a webpage has loaded. Squidoo uses JavaScript to make the tag fields appear and disappear - so Squidoo Tag Buddy just makes the appropriate calls to Squidoo's code from your browser's address bar.

Q. It didn't work - what gives?

A. Hrmm... Did the tag fields show up but nothing was filled in? Click the 'Tools' menu in Firefox and select 'Error Console'. A little window will appear and will show you any errors that happen. Clear any errors that are showing, and paste in the code to your address bar again, and try running it. If errors show up in the console window, email them to me.

Q. Am I Hacking Squidoo - Is this Legal?

A. *LOL* No, you're not hacking, endangering or messing with Squidoo. All Squidoo Tag Buddy is doing is calling Squidoo's JavaScript functions that make the tag fields appear. Then we loop through your list of keyword phrases and push them into the fields we asked Squidoo to create.
